Near the town of Douvres-la-Délivrande, Normandy, France. This museum is part of the "D-Day Le Choc" ("D-Day the collision") route in Normandie. This is one of the 8 tourist routes that guide you through the Normandy battlefields. You can find information on these routes with most of the tourist offices.The routes are very well signed

Description:

The museum is on a part of an old German W.W.II radar station, called "Funkmeßstellung Distelfink" by the Germans. The museum is part of the Le Mémorial - Un Museé pour la Paix in Caen. Interesting are an original German radar "Wurzbürg Riese" and the restored commandbunker of the radar station.

Würzburg Riese

 

Een L486 voor stroomopwekking Part of the museum area with at the background a Fu.M.G. 65 (or "Wurzbürg-Riese") radar. This is the only radar that can be seen at it's original location..

 

De L479 van twee verdiepingen De underground nervecentre of the radar station. It is bunker type L 479 ("Unterstand für Fu.M.G. - Auswertung Jafü "Anton" (Zweigeschossig)"). The bunker is renovated as much as possible the way it used to be..
